I bet that this thing would be a giant black hole of nothingness once I put all my stuff inside

Maison Martin Margiela MM6 makes a cool bag for a downtown girl, nike Air Max Uk

Maison Martin Margiela is one of those brands that you either like or you don’t, so of course the company’s MM6 diffusion line is similarly divisive. I don’t get the urge to buy or wear all of Margiela’s stuff, but I do have a healthy respect for how the brand sticks to its distinctly urban off-kilter aesthetic and appreciate a lot of the pieces that it produces.

The Maison Martin Margiela MM6 Slouchy Leather Hobo might just be my first piece from the brand, though. The signature Margiela triangular hobo shape paired with beautifully distressed leather just can’t be beat for the price if your personal style tends to skew a little bit industrial-chic.

I bet that this thing would be a giant black hole of nothingness once I put all my stuff inside, but as a longtime giant hobo enthusiast, that’s a drawback with which I’m willing to contend. Plus, all of that space gives you more room to stow your stuff, even if it later makes it impossible to retrieve said stuff in any sort of convenient or timely way. We all make sacrifices for fashion, and that’s one of mine. Buy through Saks for $380.

Dolce & Gabbana Belt

Dolce & Gabbana Belt

With the arrival of August, one thing is undeniable: Fall and Winter are coming, despite the fact that it continues to be more than 90 degrees outside in Georgia. I love winter clothing, probably because I have always lived in a climate that makes wearing your cold weather gear a rare treat – flip flops are temperature-appropriate footwear here at least 9 months out of the year, not to mention the occasional 70 degree day in February. I haven’t seen accumulated snowfall since January of ’04.

But those that live in cooler climates know that cold weather brings more than its share of wardrobe problems. The first one that always comes to my mind is the possibility that, in the pursuit of warmth, I just may end up looking like an enormous, round blob. I have the pictures from high school (and the nascent, hoody-wearing days of college) to prove that I have encountered this problem more than once, and based on what I see around me every winter, I’m not the only poor soul out there.

And then, some point a couple of years ago, I (along with everyone else following the trend) discovered the cinching belt. Hallelujah, praise the lord, it’s possible to have a shape even in a bulky sweater! They’ve since become a wardrobe staple of all weather conditions, but there’s no time that they’re more oft used than when soft, shapeless knits become wearable again. There are few things in my wardrobe that get as much use with as large a range of outfits, and they make even ratty jeans and a big sweater look pulled together and planned.

For this winter, I’ve got my eye on the a Dolce & Gabbana Belt on which I can find very little information – I know only that the color is called luggage and Zappos.com has it for $294. The color is perfect to wear with either black or brown (you can totally wear black with the right color of brown, I promise) and it compliments the winter’s key colors (purple and grey) very nicely. The criss-cross effect is so unique – everyone will ask you where you got it, and based on its small internet presence, you’ll probably be the only person you know to have it. So if you’ve got sweaters and dresses that need cinching (and honey, roger vivier soldes, I know you do), I’ve solved your problem for you, and it’s not even cold outside yet. Buy through Zappos for $294.

Versace Large Corset Laced Show Bag

Versace Large Corset Laced Show BagMy mom is the “Leave it to Beaver” mother, she is Mrs. Cleaver. This is not a bad thing at all; I love my mom more than anything in world. When I was younger my mom used to try to teach me so many things she was so skilled at, and one of them was sewing. My mom actually used to make her clothes. I, very unlike my mom in this matter, buy my clothes. She always got annoyed to see price tags on things I bought and told me, “Why, I could have done that myself! You wouldn’t even know the difference.” Sad fact is she actually can. While I was interested in learning to sew and mend, I realized I was not skilled in that area. My stitching was always horrendous and I did not care to learn about the names of stitches, etc etc. I just wanted to buy my clothes.

After reading that lovely little story I am sure you wonder where I am going with it. Well I came across this designer bag that looks like something I would do,Air Max Pas Cher. The Versace Large Corset Laced Show Bag made me think about craft projects I did when I was younger. You see my sewing was never very good, but my mom loved it and told me how proud she was of me. She saw it all for something totally different (I don’t understand that, my patchwork was just awful!). But I think I feel the same way about this Versace bag. While it may look like something we could all make, it is actually a beautiful piece of art. Featuring a lot of different beauty, the bag is adorned in suede, calf hair, lizard-stamped leather, and smooth leather. Showing off all the detail is polished gold metal hardware and racy corset lacing on the front. A really cool addition is the golden Medusa dangling off the front of the bag. The straps are a chunky gold metal chain strap with a leather shoulder piece which only adds more flare. The interior is lined with black silk and contains a patch pocket, zipped pocket, and golden Versace plaque. I love this bag because it manifests the beauty of black with exotic detailing and a plethora of luxurious materials. Add this alluring bag to your collection for $2,688 via eLuxury.

L.A.M.B. Signature Worthington Satchel in African Argyle

There was no doubt in my mind when I came across this bag that it was a L.A.M.B. handbag. In fact, I am almost positive that designer, Gwen Stefani would have it no other way. Since I am learning to appreciate the eccentric designs and find something I like about them I can actually say that this is the kind of bag I would carry if I was looking to really make a statement.

The L.A.M.B. Signature Worthington Satchel in African Argyle is a loud and noticeable bag, but that is exactly what it is meant to be. It is easy to see the African-inspired design on this satchel. With the design and color scheme being so vibrant, I didn’t even notice the pyramid stud detailing. But more importantly I can see how this bag would brighten up even the dullest winter day. If you are in the market for a bright, bold, “notice me” kind of bag,Louis Vuitton Outlet, would this be the one for you? Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $275.

Rebecca Minkoff Leopard Baby Bag

As you can imagine, the Rebecca Minkoff Leopard Baby Bag inspires a multitude of questions. Chief among them, however, is one that has been at the back of my mind since I started writing for this blog: why are baby bags so often patterned?

My status as a childless woman probably means that there are a few finer points to baby bag choice that I don’t entirely understand, but as best as I can surmise, a pattern provides two possible conveniences: first, some types of pattern hide wear pretty well. Second, the prissy pink paisleys that usually characterize baby bags announce to the world that the owner does, in fact, have a child. Although I think that they baby they’re likely also carrying should be enough to make that clear.

So on the one hand, I’m glad that this isn’t as gag-inducingly twee as a lot of baby bags are. On the other hand, red leopard print and turquoise trim are not the answer to our diaper-carrying quandaries. In fact, this particular color and print combination is the answer to absolutely nothing. I’ll admit that it’s got a bit of an 80s-meets-rockabilly thing going that I’m not entirely opposed to, but this color combination simply doesn’t work on this scale. It would have been a better idea as a clutch.

Which brings me back to my first question: why all the pattern on baby bags? They’re always big and obvious, making any pattern that’s used for one seem completely over the top, and pattern is really hard to match in most wardrobes. Since a baby bag is an everyday necessity for a new mom, and new moms are usually desperate for ways to feel “put together” and normal,Coach outlet online, can we all just agree to ditch the patterns in favor of using smart, chic, durable materials that a woman can be proud to wear? If you need further evidence, look no further than the plain black version of this very same bag. Buy through ShopBop for $395.

Wang seems to make no bones about the fact that this is

Alexander Wang Brenda Mini Camera Bag

If someone could go ahead and find me the Alexander Wang Brenda Mini Camera Bag in black, I would much appreciate it. And also, I would buy it immediately, if not sooner.

I write about a lot of bags (usually about 40 per week, to be exact),Nike Air Max, but rarely do I find one for which I want to whip out my debit card, like, that day. It takes a particular combination of brand, materials, design, and price, and I don’t find it that often. If I were to admit the last bag that I actually purchased…well, suffice it to say that a lot of you guys would have me beat on that one. We all have our bag buying habits, and I like to wait until I see something and just know. And now, I know.

This little guy is like a half version of the regular Brenda, and at a fairly steep reduction in price compared to its larger predecessor, Wang seems to make no bones about the fact that this is, indeed, a small bag. But that’s exactly what I love about it.

It retains the tough chains and leather (which I’m hoping will eventually be found in black…please…) of its predecessor while shrinking down to the perfect size for my BlackBerry, keys, lipgloss, and card case. I’ve been wanting something small and black to take out at night that’s not too bulky and that I can still wear on my shoulder or across my body, and not only does this bag fit all of those criteria, but it fits my personal style. Gimme. Buy through Saks for $395.

Emmy Rossum is ready for spring in an affordable Coach crossbody bag

Here’s the ridiculously pretty and perfect Emmy Rossum, carrying her “Bright Coral” Coach Legacy Mini Tanner Crossbody Bag after a lunch date in Beverly Hills, CA. I love this Mini Tanner for so many reasons: the bold, eye-popping spring hue, the lavishly oversized tassels, louis vuitton pas cher, and the fact that it’s just big enough to fit an e-reader, for starters. But what I especially love is the miniature price tag. You can grab this bag for only $258 at Coach. It’s also available in black leather and Coach’s signature legacy pattern.

Ok, truth talk time. Why isn’t Emmy Rossum the face of at least one major cosmetics brand? She has such a great face and amazing alabaster skin! Yes, she did one of Cotton’s “The Fabric of My Life” campaigns last year, but why isn’t this chick trying to sell the 28-35 age demographic on some sort of moderately priced skincare product already? Are you listening, Clinique?

Chloe Bay Metallic Wallet

Chloe bags have a following that is a force to be reckoned with. One of my favorite aspects of Chloe is that when they design one bag, they take it to every hobo, satchel, clutch, and tote in every color possible so that their customers can find exactly what they are looking for. The Chloe Bay Bag was a huge hit (even with Britney Spears!),Louis Vuitton, and remains to be one of the house favorites after the Paddington. While I always liked the Bay, the bag was just not 100% for me. But with the introduction of the Chloe Bay Metallic Wallet, I have found my match. This metallic gold wallet is perfect to carry all of your credit card needs and double as a clutch at night. The metallic leather has a subtle sheen to it, it is my favorite ‘kind’ of metallic, not too in your face and not too subtle. There is a gold signature plaque on the front and a zip fastening section when you open the wallet and credit card slots on either side. These larger wallets are my obsession lately, mostly because if I am on the go I just grab my large wallet and head out! Buy through Net A Porter for $550.

Juicy Couture makes an affordable entrance to the satchel market

Juicy Couture Black Star Satchel, $348 via ShopBop

If you hate bags like the Juicy Couture Black Star Satchel and wish they’d go away,シャネル, blame Proenza Schouler for the astronomical success of the brand’s PS1 satchel. Since its debut, a passel of imitators both high-end and low have come along to give consumers a similar structure with a slightly different flair, and from that group has come some great bags, most notably the Mulberry Alexa.

I, on the other hand, adore these bags. They’re roomy, functional and classic without being stuffy or dated, and the sub-$400 price point on this bag in particular makes it a good fit for women who want to get the look without shelling out a huge amount of money for the original. This bag is still unique enough that it’s nowhere near a direct copy, and that’s always what I prefer when I’m in search of a “look for less” option.

Between these two colorways, I naturally gravitate toward the black-on-black option, which is another holdover from the wildly successful Proenza Schouler design. I think that the tonal hardware gives the bag a level of sophistication slightly above those with contrasting hardware, which is why the black PS1 has always been my favorite even though I usually go for brighter bags. Buy through ShopBop for $348.
